“Downside Up” stars Emma Dean and Jacob Diefenbach.
Sebastian Digby was born with an upside down face. for Sebastian, the only thing worse than seeing things the wrong way is only ever seeing things from the attic of the Digby family home. By strange chance, on the eve of his 21st birthday - and his imminent expulsion from the Digby family home - Sebastian flees through a mysterious tear in his wallpaper. He finds a world of ethereal beauty, arcane wonders - and Peggy, a girl whose very plainness is an intoxicating abnormality. The pair are immediately drawn to each other, and quickly fall in love. But the people of this world, like the family Sebastian left behind, are a proud, fearful, and jealous folk, who conspire to tear Sebastian and Peggy apart.
Downside Up is a cabaret-styled dramatic piece about what is truly beautiful, and challlenges people (quite literally) to see things from the flip side.
Supported by Zen Zen Zo performing highlights from their recent production Zeitgeist - a retrospective of Zen Zen Zo's Butoh inspired dance-theatre works since 2000.
