| Die Winterreise by ThinIce | |
Perth’s ThinIce is one of Australia’s newest and fastest growing contemporary theatre companies, now working on its latest piece – a modern interpretation of Franz Schubert’s beautiful 24 part song cycle Winterreise (Winter Journey). The seminal 1827 composition explores the heart and soul of ‘the wanderer’, a figure rejected by love that is wrestling with grief as he journeys through the snow.
Now set in an Australian suburban living room at the height of Summer, Schubert’s wintery landscape becomes an escape and dream for three men that are searching for a place to belong. Featuring an eclectic team of artists, including playwright Tom Holloway, choreographer Chrissie Parrott, dancer James O’Hara, and actor George Shevtsov, Die Winterreise promises to be a transcendent experience from Director Matthew Lutton.
